J.D. Hallowell is a 60-ish father and husband who is fortunate enough to have lived an interesting and active life. He’s had one fantasy series, War of the Blades, published, and has several other fantasy and SF projects in the works. JD likes to keep many irons in the fire at once, so his work experience includes such diverse occupations as automotive mechanic, cowboy, photographer, psychiatric tech, paralegal assistant, bouncer, and medical billing clerk. JD studied martial arts for over 30 years. He’s been a soldier and an emergency medical technician, and served as the chief of a volunteer ambulance squad. He was even a diamond courier for a while, and later owned a working kennel where he trained dogs for law enforcement as well as personal protection, and most recently for himself. He doesn't get around much now (he’s been shot, stabbed, blown up, bludgeoned, poisoned, and even had harsh language directed toward him, if you can believe it, and it takes its toll), but JD writes whenever he can. He has pretty wide-ranging interests and hobbies, including, but not limited to, history, archery, paleontology, cooking, RPGs (the games, not the weapons) and making jewelry. Kingdoms of Novitas is a medieval fantasy LARP in NY with an emphasis on immersive roleplaying, physical action, and high standards for costuming and props. Phil Braun has been LARPing for 11 years. He plays Illivandros Lisandre, a middle aged Evenandran elf craftsman/merchant. When he created Illivandros, Phil wanted to make a typical member of a race that wasn't human. A person that was just another guy, but still challenging to play (thus the other race), and wouldn't have a lot of the traits you see in PCs. So he picked a caste (Craftsman in this case, because PCs usually like to adventure) and went from there. So you could say his concept was “Typical High Elf Craftsman/Merchant”. His character is now starting to adventure more, going out and tagging along with adventurers. He's picked up a fair bit of healing magic along the way (obstinately so he could be useful in town without having to go wandering off) and often acts as a healer when out with a group. His core concept is the same, he's still a craftsman and merchant at heart, but now he's expanding on that.
