52: Friday Night Live at the 2017 Louisville Arcade Expo | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:58:25

It’s taken us a bit to recover, but we’re back with a vengeance purpose now that we’ve gotten a few naps under our belt and tossed on some clean Superfriends Underoos! This episode is a recording of the live show we streamed on Friday night, March 3rd 2017. We managed to rotate quite the number of guests in/out of the booth during the course of the livestream (list below) and what more can we say than “we had a blast, and it shows”. *Brent’s niece & nephew – Emma and Logan, talking retro and console gaming at the Expo *Tony Thomas and Corey Simms from Louisville’s RecBar *Clint Hoskins and Jared Neible from Evansville’s Secret Headquarters *Adam and JP from Pod Casserole *Friend of the show Jim Hale (he traveled in all the way from Denver, CO!) *And last – but certainly not least (technically, she’s first) we have the show intro by Whitney’s daughter Grace – she carried us when we were nowhere to be found… The Louisville Arcade Expo has continued to grow year-after-year and is is hitting a really good stride now in both size, attendance and the sheer amount of content available to take in over the course of the show. The growth has lead to a brand new floor layout, a significant uptick in the number of games available to play, more seminars in a dedicated space and new segments of the hobby/genre being represented at the show. We recorded all of the relevant seminars and will be releasing both the audio and video from them in the next few weeks, as well. We’ll have the audio in upcoming episodes and the video will be on our Youtube channel. With that – grab a cold juice box, sit back and enjoy a great night of fun at the 2017 Louisville Arcade Expo!

 51: The One Man Band | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:36:50

There's only one show on earth that could follow up #50 with any hopes of carrying the torch and you're listening to it now! We cap teh short month with some updates, game pickups, Sky Skipper news, spending some of Brent's money and some hilarious feedback!

 High Score: 50 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 6:31:18

“Book ‘em Danno” – it’s the big ‘Five-O’ show! There’s so much crammed into this month’s episode that we had to loosen the belt a bit and put on the stretchy pants, because I think we’ve hit an all-time high score when it comes to show length, commutes and long-distance runs…. seriously. We muse about the happenings of the month (of which there are many), delve into Whitney’s hatred for all things clown (die Ziggy, die) and discuss some local parties, trade bait and flip candidates, bad arcade handhelds, some Sky Skipper updates and a long-overdue new father-daughter project, as well. We then move on into some catch-up tech and restoration topics around Ghostbusters pinball, the K700 and we revisit the ROM burner station topic we originally started back in ep. 39 (sheesh… we are slackers) – AND – we spend over $1000 of Brent’s money this month on some KILLER arcade mods. The best presents really are for yourself! Adding to all of that nonsense, we have the folks from ArcadeRX join us for an overview of the 2017 Louisville Arcade Expo and we feature our panel discussion from the 2016 Grand Ole’ Gameroom Expo with friends Adam & JP from the Adam & JP Show along with Patrick Wall from the Gameroom Junkies podcast. Add in tons of feedback, some serious trolling by Nick Baldridge and a ghost-track review of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and I’m not sure there’s any more room left on the Internet! Here's how the show timings break down: Start - 02:15 - Pre-episode 'blather' 02:15 - 1:24 - Monthly Updates and goings on 1:24 - 2:59 - Tech & Spend Brent's Money 2:59 - 4:01 - Grand 'Ole Gameroom Expo Panel Discussion - "Gaming predictions for 2017 and beyond" 4:01 - 4:53 - Let's talk Louisville Arcade Expo 2017 4:53 - 5:34 - News & Feedback 5:34 - 5:36 - Outtakes and stuff 5:36 - 6:28 - Rogue One: A Star Wars Story review 6:28 - next month - Brent Kasem causes Whitney to quit the show Let's roll baby!

 Episode 49–The Christmas Waggle | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3:42:24

It's Christmas day and what better way to say "Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays" to everyone across the globe than to drop the December episode right on top of all your wrapping paper! Some might say the release of this month's episode is well-timed, and others might consider it sheer coincidence. Either way, we're not saying, as it's mostly luck and a bit of eggnog-fueled commitment when you look under the covers. Cousin Eddie would be proud. We catch up on a lot of happenings since last month, discuss our Christmas and Holiday plans and spend *WAY* too much time talking about the Atari Flashback portable, despite easily spending over $500 of Brent's money this month on all kinds of sweet tools and arcade paraphernalia. So do what we do - burn all that wrapping paper, grab a beer and chill out and let the Holidays surround you while we send 2016 out in style!

 Episode 48–mmm…Thanksgiving Leftovers | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:20:29

And just like that.... a warm, heaping pile of Thanksgiving Leftovers makes it way to your plate for what is episode #48! We blame it on the tryptophan, so bear with us as we make room for seconds and break off a rather unconventional (in...like...it's under 4 hours) episode of the podcast. We've had a pretty big November - we attended the Grand Ole Gameroom Expo and put on a couple of sessions there, met up with half of the Gameroom Junkies, slummed with Adam and JP of the Adam and JP Show, ogled the awesome work of Chris Royalty at Hot Rod Arcade/Pinball Plating and even rubbed some elbows with Patrick Scott Patterson. Add on top of that a bevy of gameroom updates, trials and tribulations with the new Ghostbusters Pinball and some major progress on the Sky Skipper Project and you've got something worthy of the finest cranberry sauce that money can't buy. I *KNOW* Brent is thankful for this month, as I give his wallet a break and we catch up on a boatload of feedback as well. We love hearing from our listeners, so keep it coming! We hope you enjoy this 'food coma' of an episode as we all get geared for what is sure to be a great Christmas!

Episode 47–There’s a head stuck in your coin door | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3:46:53

October 2016 Ahh... Halloween. It's could be called one of the best (it's definitely one of the most fun) holidays of the year and we try to pay homage to that spirit of fun this month here on the show. Despite showing up to record in our best costumes (we dressed up like wannabe podcasters), we ditch the spooky sound effects and get straight to the business of the month - and that nothing but high-quality arcade and pinball talk. Ok, the high-quality part is a stretch, but it beats getting a bag full of rocks. We cover off on our recent Ghostbusters pinball purchase, take delivery and do some box unpacking talk, along with lots (and I do mean lots) of discussion on first impressions, what needs to be addressed before putting the game into full-time play and our favorite mods for the game thus far. We talk through monthly updates (which encompasses a Rowe jukebox, Back To The Future pinball, Mad Planets and a major announcement on the Sky Skipper Project that Whitney is working on with Alex and Olly in the UK. At this time, it's safe to say Sky Skipper is officially on like Donkey Kong. We also talk shop on approaches to LED'ing out a pinball machine and following up on the Bryman BM235 multimeter. Oh - and Whitney finds all kinds of treasures in the coin buckets of Brent's games. Here's the best recipe we could come up with on short notice to help you enjoy this month's show: *Do an overnight download of the show to our phone. *Grab your favorite variety of pumpkin beer - preferably cold. *Open it, savor the aroma and then pour it down the drain. *Go grab any other kind of beer, pop it open and relish in the fact that you aren't drinking pumpkin beer. *Hit play. *Let the insanity surround you. Here's how the show timings break down for this month: 0:00 - Intro and monthly updates 1:00 - Reflections on a big-butted ghost 2:15 - Tech & Spend Brent's money 3:01 - News & Feedback 3:45 - Outtakes and 'ode to the Chipmunks' As always, remember to check our Facebook Page for LOTS of content in-between the episodes, as Brent and I are keep a lively presence on the podcast page and we enjoy lots of great discussion on trending topics. Follow us on Twitter (@BrokenToken) as well and if you want to talk to us directly, give us a shout on the podcast voicemail line –470-2CALLBT (470-222-5528) If you enjoy what you hear, then please consider leaving us a rating on our iTunes page and our Stitcher Radio page.  Episode 46–Back to the cackle part XLVI | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3:22:58

If there's any possible way to mash up arcade and pinball talk, a ton of updates, some hilarious feedback, a brand new "side project" announcement (like Whitney needs another one), game pickups, BTTF, Star Wars, Star Trek, Lazer Blaze, birthday parties and a new multimeter all into one episode, then yeah - we can call Episode 46 "mission accomplished". With all that, I'm not really sure what else to say. You'll need to listen and sort it all out for yourself, because our minds are mush after recording this episode. I think the only thing we had left over on the cutting room floor was the kitchen sink and it will somehow make it into episode 47, I am sure. In all seriousness we have a ton of topics that we cover this month - you can akin it to driving in circles for 88 miles and moving forward 3. See what I did there!?!?! Thanks for listening and here's to ending September 2016 on the highest note possible! With all that, I'm not really sure what else to say.  Episode 45–Fudge at a ComicCon is illogical | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3:48:34

August 2016 With a show title mashup like that, I’m not even really sure where to start – so the best thing to do is just put everything on the table and let you decide – and figure out where the fudge plays into everything… This month we cover off on a multitude of topics: Fandom Fest Ghostbusters unboxing (not ours – this one belongs to RecBar) Sevierville, TN August 2016 Coin-Op auction Trip to Seattle – Seattle Pinball Museum Trip to Chicago – Stern Pinball factory tour, Logan Arcade and Galloping Ghost! DK board repair by OneCircuit ACDC Pinball mods and last but certainly not least, we dive head-first into the world of CRT rejuvinators and spend some of Brent’s money on a killer multimeter. Here's how the show timings break down for this month: 00:00 - Intro and monthly updates 01:48 - Tech segment - CRT rejuvinators and Spend Brent's Money 02:65 - Ghostbusters on location 03:07 - News and Feedback 03:41 - Outtakes - "Kirk Vs. Piccard"

 Episode 44–Welcome to Middle Management | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3:40:10

July 2016 Summer is in full swing and we’ve got more podcasting goodness for your summer restoration work (or commutes…however you call it, we’re good with it!) We discuss project updates from all over the place, talk about Red Tents (GRAILER), ROM burning, scanning artwork, what we ordered from Online Components, troubleshooting System 11 pinball machines, logic probes and last, but not least, go all SlapStic on spending Brent’s money - and that's after he picked up the bill when we had dinner with listener David Paul! If you can stomach all the topic dyslexia, then we have a special treat in store for you this month: Daniel DeBusschere hosts one of the panels from the 2016 Southern Fried Gameroom Expo entitled "Painting the Dots - Pinball's Color DMD Revolution" and talks with Mica Critchfield and Mark Jarzewiek as they discuss all things ColorDMD – from how displays are colored to some history of the project and the company. It’s great info that you won’t hear anywhere else. On top of that, they premier color dots running on Family Guy for the first time, so you get a world-premier to boot! If you want to catch the video from the session, then look no further as we've got it posted on our YouTube channel as well. We also have plenty of feedback to discuss as well, so buckle up and get ready and remember...we are the way we are because we sit in the sun FAR too long...

 Episode 43 – Next exit, Silicone Valley | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4:43:42

June 2016 We are back from the Southern-Fried Gameroom Expo and in front of the mics to recap our thoughts and all the high (many) and low (one…stupid tire) points along the way. Needless to say, it was a great weekend full of fun and excitement. We reconnected with listeners and friends, got some good swag (beer), interviewed some very interesting people, put on a couple of sessions and and met lots of great folks to boot. This month we feature one of the first audio segments from SFGE and are proud to feature the “From Tron to Curveball: Bill Adams’ Life in Classic Gaming” session where we have the privilege of interviewing Bill Adams and talk about everything from developing Tron to naming Satan’s Hollow to the legend of “OScope”… it’s great insight and a must-listen for some fantastic history on some beloved Bally/Midway games. We also cover off on some monthly updates, spend some of Brent’s money, respond to a literal boat-load of listener feedback, mis-pronounce silicon, silicone and numismatic and uncover the long-lost horn of the General Lee. Yep – all in a month’s work! Here’s how the show timings break down: 0:00 – Intro & SFGE 2016 recap 1:45 – Tech and Spending Brent’s Money 3:09 – From Tron to Curveball: Bill Adams’ Life in Classic Gaming 4:04 – News and Feedback 4:42 – Outtakes As always, remember to check our Facebook Page for LOTS of content in-between the episodes, as Brent and I are keep a lively presence on the podcast page and we enjoy lots of great discussion on trending topics.  Episode 42–(South) East Bound & Down | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3:54:03

Well, here we are at the end of May and the beginning of Summer for 2016.. time flies and this month is no exception. In addition to the normal updates, feedback and catching up since the last episode, we find ourselves covering a few "different" topics this month - auctions and game hauling. Yeah - you read that right folks- gavels and trailers. We set down to record and had a bit of a 'loose' agenda (due to our prep-time for the upcoming 2016 Southern-Fried Gameroom Expo) and figured we'd cover off on a few topics that we've been wanting to discuss for several months, but have had a hard time slotting them into some of the past shows. During the course of the discussion, we uncover the fact that Whitney is an auctioneer and that Brent has a closet full of NES consoles - and somewhere those two facts actually intercept and make sense...only on our show. Not to be outdone by our own self-induced bravado, we hear from two guys that REALLY have something to talk about - Billy Mitchell and Walter Day - as they host one of the seminars from the 2016 Louisville Arcade Expo entitled "The Perfect Pac-Man" in which Billy and Walter discuss the techniques used to score a perfect Pac-Man game and fields audience questions, as well. Call it "Ratchet Strap Redux" or "More than I ever cared about a dolly" or "loaded up and trucking (to Atlanta)" and you've got an offbeat episode 42 of the show! Here’s how the show timings break down: 0:00 - Intro & Updates 1:03 - Gavels & Trailers and Stuff 2:46 - Billy Mitchell & Walter Day - The Perfect Pac-Man 3:53 - Outtakes As always, remember to check our Facebook Page for LOTS of content in-between the episodes, as Brent and I are keep a lively presence on the podcast page and we enjoy lots of great discussion on trending topics.  Episode 41- The Black Hole Notebook Ghostbusters? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4:49:36

April 2016 The words ‘Back in the saddle’ has a lot of connotations, but we all know what it means in the land of BT – EPIC show at EPIC (uh...normal) length! :) We roll out of April and into May returning to the studio and catching up on all things arcade and pinball since our livestream shows at the 2016 Louisville Arcade Expo. We sit down and catch up on hobby and project progress over the past six weeks, talk tech, catch up on quite a bit of pinball news and in an unprecedented display of shrewdness, showmanship and podcasting sound effects, Brent spends both his – and Whitney’s - money this month! We’ll just drop this right here, and let you guys and gals figure the rest of it out…. [ghostbusters-logo] We also have the opportunity to hear from the ‘King of Flow’ himself – Mr. Steve Ritchie in our first ‘seminar segments’ from Louisville Arcade Expo. Steve talks about pinball design, the state of the industry and the economy, Game of Thrones and more. I apologize up front a bit for the audio – it required a good amount of post-processing but it came out really well all things considered. Here’s how the show timings break down: 0:00 - Intro & Updates 1:57 - Steve Ritchie at the 2016 Louisville Arcade Expo 2:44 - Tech and Spending Brent's Money 3:54 - News and Feedback 4:48 - Outtakes

 Episode 38–Words that Brent can’t say | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3:52:26

This episode is all about shaking off the cold of winter and getting into the swing of the restoration and expo season. With the upcoming Louisville Arcade Expo and the Southern-Fried Gameroom Expo just a few short weeks (LAX) and months (SFGE) out, we are looking forward to plenty of live broadcasts, panels and getting to meet up with both old and new friends. Between the pomp and circumstance related to preparation for those shows, episode #38 busts onto the scene! It’s always an eye opener when we sit down and cover off one what we’ve been working on over the past month… you think you might not be getting a lot accomplished, but in effect, there’s quite a good bit done: Brent works on the Zaxxon, a Cue Ball Wizard, and a Golden Tee ‘99. Whitney (finally) works on the Zookeeper and begins a ‘bench rig’ build-out project that will be detailed here on the site and on Facebook as well. Between all of that, we both go on two independent ‘mini-raids’ and score some nice loot that we reveal to each other for the first time here on the show. This month we return with a ‘Deep Dive’ segment on the Gottlieb/Premier System 3 pinball boards and talk about MPU repair for those specific games. We also spend a boatload of Brent’s money, respond to a TON of listener feedback and ponder our next ‘out of band’ movie review. Lots of good feedback on the Star Wars discussion, so we’re toying with the idea of doing it again. What movie should we pick apart next? Here’s how the show timings break down: 00:00 - Gameroom, Project, Personal updates & general goings on 01:32 – Deep Dive on the Gottlieb/Premier System 3 MPU 02:32 – Let’s Spend Brent’s Money! 03:10 – News and Feedback 03:51 - Outtakes! As always, remember to check our Facebook Page for LOTS of content in-between the episodes, as Brent and I are keep a lively presence on the podcast page and we enjoy lots of great discussion on trending topics.
