Madlib has a reputation for creating many different musical aliases, and this week Jamie features his jazz quintet project, Yesterday’s New Quintet, in which Madlib is each of the five musicians. Meanwhile, Jamie plays a track from Georgie Fame’s new record and explains what he loves about Georgie’s voice, and features great female vocalists such as Patricia Barber, Nancy Wilson and Meshell Ndegeocello.

Jamie features modern jazz trio The Bad Plus in this week's podcast, featuring a track from their latest album, Made Possible. Also this week, Jamie interviews one of his favourite British jazz artists, Finn Peters. The pair discuss the adventure and inventiveness in Finn's music and Jamie finds out what happened when Finn decided to turn his own brain waves into music. Jamie celebrates Harry Connick Jr.'s birthday in this week’s podcast, with tracks from the American singer who shot to fame with the When Harry Met Sally soundtrack. Alongside music from vocal group The Espen Erikesen Trio and pianists The Keith Jarrett Trio, Jamie explores vocalese with one of jazz’s most important trios - Lambert, Hendricks and Ross. Jamie also has new music from a quartet on Nostalgia 77’s Ark Records label, plus songs from Afro-Cuban style Jessica Lauren Four, Dutch artist Benny Sings and a Shuggie Otis track from 1970.

Jamie features jazz bassist Jaco Pastorius on the podcast this week, choosing a track from his 1976 debut album and explaining what made him stand apart at the time, and still today. Jamie also selects new tracks from singer and bassist Me'Shell Ndegeocello, The Branford Marsalis Quartet and New Zealand artist Nathan Haines. Meanwhile, he digs out some classic blues from Booker Ervin, a standard sung by Ethel Waters and a track with a Latin twist from Cal Tjader.

Having just released an album of solo piano pieces, Solo Piano II, Jamie picks one of his favourite tracks from the album called White Keys. Jamie features jazz drummer and producer Sebastian Rochford on this week’s podcast. Sebastian is a stalwart of the British jazz scene, leading his own band, Polar Bear, working in other bands such as Acoustic Ladyland, and collaborating with different musicians to release a single once a month. Expect a track from the Detroit group Tribe, taken from a Soul Jazz Records’ Tribe collection, and a funky piece by Owen Marshall, put out on one of his favourite labels Jazzman Records. Jamie features Norwegian jazz group Jaga Jazzist this week. Playing a track from their debut album, A Livingroom Hush, Jamie explains how they impressed him with their combination of experimental jazz with electronica influences. Keeping with the experimental side of jazz, Jamie chooses a track from free jazz pioneer Ornette Coleman and plays one of his favourite solos from Herbie Hancock. Also expect a new track from Christine Tobin and an exclusive from The Webster Wraight Ensemble.

Jamie features the broken-beat jazz influenced duo 4hero on the podcast this week. First finding out about them in his record hunting days in Bristol, Jamie explains what excited him about them so much when he first heard them, and plays a track from their Mercury-nominated album Two Pages. Meanwhile, Jamie plays the dulcet tones of Blossom Dearie, a new track from British pianist and composer Joe Stilgoe, some cosmic jazz from Sun Ra and a solo guitar piece from Bucky Pizzarelli.
