Outlaws & Gunslingers: John Ashley

Summary: John Ashley was the so called "King Of The Everglades" and for good reason. Throughout the 1910s and early 20's he and his gang ran South Florida, operating several stills in the hard to reach swamp lands which resulted in a lengthy feud with the local Sheriff. In addition to being involved in illegal alcohol, John was also a successful bank robber, netting nearly a million dollars from at least 40 banks. He was so feared that other illegal rum runners quit operating near his territory so they wouldn't be killed. John's story is a 1920's "wild west' story that you have to hear to believe!
