Summary: Big Bill was an Irish American bootlegger from New York who turned a small operation into a multi million dollar empire. At the height of his success, he had a smuggling operation that ran from Europe directly to Manhattan. Bill took his earnings from bootlegging and bought several sports teams including two NHL franchises an NFL team and even two horse racing tracks.
