The Power of Kindness

The Meditation Podcast show

Summary: Welcome to The Meditation Podcast, with Jesse and Jeane Stern. Episode 31, The Power of Kindness. Have you ever experienced someone acting rude or unkind toward you, and you reacted with rudeness or unkindness? Do you hold memories of unpleasant confrontations, where you later thought of the perfect angry response? Have you been hurt or wronged by someone in the past, and now -- months or years later -- still imagine their downfall and ruin? Our fellow humans can be cruel. It is perfectly natural to feeling angry, unkind, unforgiving, or vengeful. However, harboring such feelings is not very productive, and we mostly hurt ourselves -- much more than we can possibly benefit ourselves or affect anyone else. In the long run, such feelings can transform into physical disease, addiction, chronic pain, and worse. In today's meditation, we use kindness to heal ourselves. We enter a situation that may have caused us pain or anger in the past, and then re-imagine that situation with kindness toward the people involved. This has a profound effect on our well being.
