HBO's WestWorld Episode Ten - The Bicameral Mind | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:47:00

The Hosts take a deep dive on HBO's WestWorld Episode 10, "The Bicameral Mind". The show did a fantastic job of buttoning up certain story lines and giving us some much needed answers. We learn about Ford’s final story and how it relates to the world as a whole. We also learn about the maze and what it means for hosts like Dolores and Bernard.  There’s Maeve’s crew going full Terminator in the offices and how she is forced to make her own choices.  There’s all of this and more for the Season Finale.

 HBO's WestWorld Episode Nine - The Well-Tampered Clavier | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:45:00

The Hosts take a deep dive on HBO's WestWorld Episode Nine, The Well-Tampered Clavier. They discuss some of the inherent issues proposed in this episode from a story-telling point of view. There of course is the Bernard saga how he relates to Arnold. Ford's motivations are called into question as well.  Then they discuss the inconsistencies (or confusion) with the Dolores timelines and how her arc is muddied with the flipping of time.  And finally they talk about the park's inner workings and how that has been a narrative issue all along.

WestWorld Episode Eight: Trace Decay | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:41:00

The Hosts, Doug Norrie and James Davis discuss HBO WestWorld’s episode eight, Trace Decay. Coming down off the intensity of last week’s episode is never easy, but this one had plenty of it’s own nuggets. They talk about how Bernard is dealing with the realization that he’s a host and how that could effect both him and Ford going forward.  Then there’s Maeve who’s completely online now, but still not totally in control of her world. They theorize on what her final fate is, whether she gets out of the park or not.  And finally there’s much more to the William is the Man in Black theory.

 HBO's WestWorld Episode Seven - Trompe L'oeil | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:47:00

The Hosts Podcast breaks down HBO’s WestWorld Episode 7, “Trompe L’oeil”. Wow. This is the episode we’ve been waiting for and of course there are major spoilers ahead. We learn almost everything we need to know (and suspected) about Bernard in a chilling final scene to the episode. It raises so many implications for the motives of Ford and we discuss his character going forward.  The Hosts also break down Maeve’s character and how they see here story line dovetailing into the rest of the world. And of course there’s William and Dolores getting further into the outskirts of the park.  Subscrbe to this podcast on iTunes

 HBO's WestWorld Episode Six - The Adversary | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:38:00

Doug and James discuss HBO's WestWorld episode six, "The Adversary". This was a crazy episode with a number of different storylines starting the crystalize. First the discuss Bernard and whether or not he’s a human or a host. This is something that’s been creeping more into the forefront over the course of the first season.  They also talk in depth about Ford and what he’s done to work with a family of hosts that exist outside the registered group.  And finally there’s the very silly scene with Lee peeing on the WestWorld console and somehow being offered a promotion.

 WestWorld Episode 5 - Contrapasso | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:38:00

The Hosts do a deep dive on HBO's WestWorld Episode 5 - Contrapasso. This episode really opens the floodgates on questions about really every character on the show. They discuss Ford's interactions with both Dolores and the Man in Black and whether or not Ford is the protagonist, antagonist or both (or neither).  They also discuss William and Dolores and whether this episode lent more credence to that story being on an alternate timeline from the rest of the show.  And then there's the dealings within WestWorld corporate and how Maeve comes online at the end.

WestWorld Episode Four - Dissonance Theory | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:43:00

WestWorld Episode 4, Dissonance Theory, all at once poses a bunch of questions and gives very few answers. There's of course the story with Maeve and her continued dreams about the experience in the lab. She has a moment of enlightenment at the end where she says, "None of this matters," which leads us to believe she's coming to real consciousness. And we also learn that her visions of the Shades aren't just with her.  The Man in Black continues on his quest towards the Maze with a little pyrotechnic pizzazz along the way. And For levies something like a threat on Theresa and the Board.

WestWorld Episode Three: The Stray | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:38:00

TheHosts Doug Norrie and James Davis take a deep dive on HBO's WestWorld Episode Three: The Stray. While the plot didn't move a ton forward (or at least not linearly) there's quite a bit to discuss here. They start with Dolores and how her timeline is effected through the use of the mysterious gun as well as he finally taking action against another host.  There's also Ford and his role as both creator but possibly as antagonist when it comes to the machinations within Westworld. What to make of his old business partner?  And finally they talk about how the actual Stray's actions dictate some of the host behavior going forward.

WestWorld Episode Two: Chestnut | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:38:00

The Hosts discuss WestWorld Episode Two: Chestnut. There's a ton to dissect here with multiple story lines converging. Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) continues walking down the path of self-discovery and is even passing on her “enlightenment”  almost in virus form. Maeve experiences her own discovery in the form of a traumatic event.  Then there’s William who enters WestWorld a relative noob and chooses the white hat out of almost a narrative obligation. Plus the Man in Black does some more of the old been-there-done-that.    And finally, The Hosts discuss Ford’s (Anthony Hopkins) motivation within WestWorld as God/ Dad/ Owner and what it means for business.

WestWorld Episode One: The Beginning | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:32:00

The guys from The Hosts Podcast kick off their first episode discussing HBO's WestWorld's Episode One, The Beginning. Part of the discussion includes the themes present in the show, what it's like to "go evil", how it relates to our current world and the implications for us as a society.  WestWorld, just from the beginning, is such a layered experience with a ton put on the table. They talk about The Man in Black, how the reveries access the subconcious and what the hell is the deal with the flies.
